EMERGING TRENDS AND THE FUTURE OF NANOMATERIALS IN ELECTRONICS
Synopsis
This chapter explores the emerging frontiers of nanomaterials in the evolution of modern electronics. It discusses how artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) accelerate nanomaterial design by enabling predictive modelling and autonomous experimentation. Advances in quantum nanotechnology are presented as pivotal for realising quantum computing, sensing, and communication systems that surpass classical limitations. The chapter further highlights innovations in self-powered and autonomous electronics driven by nanomaterials for energy harvesting and sustainability. The influence of 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), and wearable technologies on flexible, multifunctional materials is analysed, emphasising their role in miniaturisation and performance enhancement. Finally, the concept of fully integrated nanoelectronics is examined as a foundation for intelligent, adaptive, and interconnected systems.
